Employment-Based Immigration

The goal of the United States' employment-based immigration policy is to draw in highly qualified workers from all around the world. It includes various preference categories :

• Priority Workers : This group includes people with exceptional talent in the arts, sciences, education, business, or athletics, as well as distinguished academics, researchers, and executives or managers from various global corporations.
• Professionals with Advanced Degrees or Exceptional Ability : People that fit into this category have advanced degrees or outstanding talent in the arts, sciences, or business.
• Skilled Workers, Professionals, and Other Workers : Professionals with bachelor's degrees, skilled workers, and other employees with fewer than two years of training or experience all fall into this category. Typically, a labour certification and a job offer are needed.

Asylum and Refugee Programs

Through the asylum and refugee programmes, the United States offers protection to people who are escaping persecution or the threat of persecution in their native countries. While refugees ask for protection while outside the United States, asylum is only available to people who are already there or at a port of entry.

Green Card and US Citizenship

An individual can live and work continuously in the US if they have a green card, which is also known as a Permanent Resident Card. Green card holders have many of the same privileges and rights as US citizens, but they are unable to cast ballots in national elections.
