The main route for skilled workers to immigrate to Canada is the Express Entry programme. It oversees the processing of applications for the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class, and the Canadian Experience Class, three federal economic immigration programmes.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)

The provinces and territories of Canada also have their own immigration programmes known as Provincial Nominee Programmes (PNPs), in addition to the Express Entry system. Provinces are able to propose people through these programmes who satisfy the necessary criteria in terms of education and experience to fill regional labour market gaps. The target occupations and eligibility requirements vary by province or territory.

Canadian Study Permits

Also a popular choice for overseas students is Canada. A study permit is required for anyone planning to attend a designated educational institution in Canada for more than six months. International students are allowed to work both on and off campus while they are enrolled in classes, and in some cases, they may be qualified for post-graduation work permits to gain experience in Canada.

Permanent Residency and Citizenship

Obtaining permanent residency (PR) in Canada allows individuals to live and work in the country indefinitely. PR holders have access to most social benefits that Canadian citizens receive, including healthcare coverage. After meeting specific residency requirements, PR holders can apply for Canadian citizenship and enjoy additional benefits such as voting rights and the ability to obtain a Canadian passport.
